Ya, what they're talking about is mandating backdoors into these encryption systems so they can essentially decrypt and access anyone's data. They say it'll just be for lawful purposes, but you can't make a backdoor that only the right people can access. It's a weakness that anyone could exploit. And of course there's no reason to believe that those with access will only use that backdoor for lawful purposes. This sort of weakening of encryption is a nightmare that ultimately puts us all at risk. No thank you.
