In 2017, under the Trump administration, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services conducted a study showing that refugees had contributed $63 billion more in revenue than they cost over ten years. But because the results didn’t fit the political agenda, Trump’s adviser Stephen Miller blocked the positive figures. Only the costs were published — the economic benefits were deliberately left out.
