Today's "Book in the Spotlight" is:
Compost Teas for the Organic Grower by Eric Fisher
I'm only halfway into the 2nd chapter and wow! I can tell already I'm going to have to read this one several times. Well researched and crammed full of general plant nutrition knowledge in a very easy to read format this book is going well beyond the topic of the title.
Select Quotes:
"In recent years the idea of ‘suppressive soils’ has begun to be explored where natural microbial communities actively combat weeds and diseases and develop an incredibly fertile growing medium."
"Particularly interesting is the work in biocrystallisation where holistically grown vegetables and conventionally grown vegetables were treated with copper chloride and the patterns compared."
"Many of these chemicals such as silicon or selenium are essential to animals, which in some way they may repay in other services such as providing nutrients or seed dispersal."
