yes, it is going away, if dark pools are now more of the "market" in "public" traded equities then the whole scheme is done for, because the volatility of supply now is more dark than visible... one big dark pool trade could completely change the supply dynamics of the bright side (public/retail/even moderately large corporations) in such a way as to lead to a dramatic rise in volatiility
the inevitable decline to decadence that always starts with one little "it's ok, you can eat one fruit"
