This is just my opinion and all but I think some developers make a great product and then ruin it by adding more features.
My guess is they build the first or some follow up variant that is great, but fail to do any marketing for it and feel like they should keep adding stuff because surely that’s what people want. But, it’s not.
There’s a lot of value in creating something with very defined scope because people “get it”. But once you start adding some other major parts to the app, it becomes less clear what it is. This makes marketing even harder than when you had a more modest version.
It’s really easy to fall into the trap of build more stuff, but the best thing to do is to either focus on marketing and spend your restless coding syndrome on other side projects.
