I'm fascinated with crows (thus, one in my series to honor them). I'll watch anything about them. We also have a lot of them around here. One day, while watching them feed, I noticed how one doesn't, but instead perches, on occasion squawking.
Then I realized. A lookout.
There's a reason why every novel I've written has at least 1 prominent animal character.
