#catstr training - toilet is hard to teach... but scratching post is so easy... i can now literally just touch the scratching post and say "scratch" and he jumps up and gives it a claw
the occasions of toilet are much less frequent so it's hard to actually teach him in context... usually i have to basically feed him in there, lock him in, and wait to hear him try to jump on the ledge to get out the window and then come down and show him that poopies go in the toilet
so usually i get one teachable moment a day for toilet, but scratching is easy, because he has learned when i say "scratch" there is usually a tasty cheesy tidbit for him, and at the same time he has to grab onto the post to access it anyway, so it's really fast acquiring the correct conditioning, and once he gets used to using it then later he will think "scratch" and use the post i provided him, and avert all danger of causing damage to furniture
if only toilet was so easy
but then, after a week or two more i think he'll learn it and he'll be ready to be my first mate.
