I don't think you considered the pure incentives for war that got us here to begin with: those who profit from the war machine. Both the US and Russia have war machines, both have incentive for eternal conflict, both profit from death. Israel and Iran have similar motivations, though its an idealistically justified war machine. Given everything else you reasoned, put that in your funnel.
