Working in healthcare is so fucking demoralizing. It's so altruistic that people burn out or become jaded. Compassion fatigue is real. The abuse is real. No one is addressing the root problems, and I've had about enough of it. So have most of the people I work with. I watch newcomers come in bright eyed and excited (as I did) only to quickly end up feeling dead inside and unfulfilled by their work. There are grateful people, but it isn't enough. The pay sucks. The schedule sucks. There's little respect or support from administrators beyond words. The future of healthcare isn't looking bright from my perspective.
