Yep. I'm just glad that my dad, sister, some cousins, and some friends of mine are hodling. Even a retired stockbroker like my dad can see bitcoins long-term strengths and the fiat monetary systems overabundance of vulnerabilities. It's a shame most other boomers will never share his outlook. Most of his friends are just buying bitcoin etfs while simultaneously convincing themselves that they're bitcoin owners now. 🤷🙄.
Right again. Honestly, I've grown to despise, in the past few years, hearing people say to me "money isn't everything" whenever I explain bitcoin and fiat currencies weaknesses to them. Hears the thing... that saying is true but they almost always deflect with that saying and intentionally take what I'm telling them out of context and assume I'm trying to say "money is EVERYTHING." So goddamn annoying. They choose to hold this shortsighted perspective that they can enjoy and improve their own and their children's lives without hard money ownership in the future. Its fucking ridiculous. Every time I tell them this all I get back is crickets and then they jump to a completely different topic. My cousin (who isn't a hodler) holds this typical max-normie stress free philosophy, that he inherited from my boomer uncle, where we should just enjoy life and the presence of others and travel and have money come last. That's fine. But I've told him before that he's approaching this personal philosophy with a high time preference which may not end well for his kid and whatever you're leaving him to inherit. He might just end up cleaning up his debt for who knows how long🤷.
The other saying i can't stand is "this is what kids like these days". So... you're okay with paying for hormonal treatment and gender transition surgery for your kid just because you want them to stop complaining?! You'll buy your 10-year-old kids a smartphone, exposing them to all the nasty shit online, just because they're being annoying and so they'll leave you alone all the while destroying their innocence?! You'll let your kids leave the house dressed like an underage hooker because that's what all the other kids are doing?! Doesn't look pretty when its typed out, does it? But most parents don't care to listen.
