MY NPUB IS NOT FOR SALE!
I have been thinking a bit about paid engagement and paid follows. Specifically Paid reposts. While this may be a viable way to get attention, it could be quite dangerous to Nostr’s health and the view people have on it.
Another thing to consider is if you are reposting everything under the sun for money without purpose, you are essentially exposing your follows to spam and possible harm if what you are promoting harms them, it also makes you look desperate too and often will make people not interact with you.
Believe me I know, I used to be the king of paid engagement as many of you know.
But also I have come to the conclusion that Nostr is something special, and is worth being protected from this type of behavior.
Which is why I am now taking the pledge of “MY NPUB IS NOT FOR SALE” meaning I pledge not to engage in fake engagement or promote fake engagement, meaning reposts, likes, or follows for money.
I have no problem with advertising on Nostr, in fact I think there are many great ways to do so in a less invasive manner.
