Freedom of Information Request for local police dash cam footage - success.
The results - Refused to show me the officer's unjustified u turn manuver and peeling off after handing me the ticket due to "an invasion of privacy".... I found this to be pretty laughable. 🤣
So I said fine, how else can i fight this ticket i cant afford...
Let's review the footage knowing michigan vehical code (mcl 257.612) states:
"Vehical traffic facing a steady yellow signal is warned that the related green movement is being terminated or that a red indication will be exhibited immediately thereafter."
As you can see from the evidence below, the roads are wet, i drive a 23yr old vehicle, and I am past the stop line while the light is yellow and complied with michigan traffic law. Slamming on my brakes to stop as the officer suggested would have resulted in my car sliding into the intersection with the police car behind me, leading to a larger ticket, points on my license, or worse loss of life if my brake lines where to give out.
We're gunna fight this in person and get it dismissed. 👍
