Welcome to Nostr, here few tips to get you started !
1. Setup your NIP-05 (Nostr ID), use nostrcheck.me or similar, some relays filter out those without one
2. Follow topics using hastags, a good way to find your tribe, you are Kooning for thoughtful friends, the hashtag "criticalthinkers" may work, "asknostr" is quite successful.
3. Choose a Nostr Client that respects your privacy, I suggest "Amethyst" for Android, "Damus" for iOS, "noStrudel" for web Browsers, browse around, find yours.
4. Protect your private key, don't share it or use it directly, instead use a signer like "Amber" for mobiles or an extension like nos2x-fox for browsers
5. if you haven't set up a wallet for zaps yet, there are many options, Minibits, Wallet of Satoshi or my favorite npub.cash (all three allows you get a vanity address), or macadamia.cash native to iOS
