Carbon Begets Carbon
When recalcitrant carbon (biochar) is added to soil it does more over time than simply store carbon away from our oceans of water and air. It attracts even more carbon to it.

The carbon increases the soil biology which is itself carbon. The more life present in the soil, the more atmospheric carbon is stored in that life. Then that life goes on to increase plant growth as legions of critters release minerals and nutrients. The plants' growth store yet more carbon.

Improved nutritional value and water purification increases while energy and fertilizer requirements decrease. Better natural pest and weed control begin and biodiversity increases.

This spiral of life is a carbon magnet.
