I wonder how your position might be tweaked if you added the opportunity for choice? Is it possible to tie both change and amplification to choice? A person could change over time because of their choices. It’s also possible to amplify core values or beliefs by choosing them. If choice can be linked to both then is it possible to expand the choice options available to negative, neutral and positive change? It’s true that if you “provided” options for your kin that they would not change for the better or for the worse, but it is equally possible that they would make a choice to change.
I almost ruined myself with early financial goals. It wasn’t until facing some very tough times that I was able to reshape my goal from an amount to an attitude, specifically attempting to answer the question “when is enough, enough!” Really hard question when you take your role as of provider seriously. These days I tend to filter a lot of our financial decisions through the choice filter as it helps in a lot of ways to figure out when enough is enough.
