April was incredibly full …
I had a tool go live at work and now I’m supporting about 300 users. It’s pulls from about 50 data sources and puts together all the key metrics our teams are looking at for performance.
At the same time I was asked to join a team for value optimization. I honestly dreaded this at first. I hate cost cutting exercises but it honestly hasn’t been that way at all. Our company grew really fast over two decades and hasn’t done much in the way of looking for efficiencies. We’re finding some tweaks that people can make that will give them back a lot of money. The best part is they can use it to fund more work rather than give it back to the org.
Last on the work front my team has another tool that I’ve been manually refreshing for about a year. I got some funding to harden the data pipelines we needed to get it automated so I’ve been leading that resource as a side job.
On the home front our main kids soccer coach was out so I was on duty but the kids just won their third tournament in a row. My son struggled for the first time, has a knee injury and limped through most of the games. It was a good lesson in toughness and being a good teammate rather than performing.
We’ve also been praying and figuring out if my daughter should go to first grade. She’s real young on the calendar but we’re moving forward.
How was your April? And March?
