It’s pretty simple, through evolution humans have developed a negative bias embedded in our neurochemistry. This helped us stay alert to potentially harmful or dangerous situations in order to survive and stay on top.
Now with the advent of social media, that same negative bias has shifted our attention from saber-toothed tigers to words. The more outlandish and outrageous the content, the more it stands out.
The real danger we now face lies in the cultural and societal ripple effects created within our own echo chambers.
