yeah, it depends on the still... a lot of yugoslavian and bulgarian home stills are fancy coiled condensers and allihn and similar, 400mm long pyrex glass condensers and copper boilers, that's why the quality is so high, those kinds of stills sip the fractions very precisely and the first part they discard, that's the methanol, and they discard the last part, which is full of fusil oils like butyl alcohols, which give the burn
distillation is fun... you can even do a pretty good job with a condenser made out of thin and thick copper pipe with adapter pieces to seal up the cooling jacket, a decent copper liebig condenser, i made one one time back in 2004 when i was living in auckland.
