I grew up with taste of hatred on my tongue. Hatred for the government, hatred for the “other”. I provided shade for the dark parts of me to grow, and for the bright parts to wither. I blamed everyone for my place in life, because I was taught to.
Then I came tot the realization that it didn’t have to be that way. That I could escape the place I was born and the people who held me down.
No one has your back, especially not the ones who sit in ivory towers serving you platitudes and promises wrapped in smiles and fist bumps.
Find a person to love, and they will love you back. Find a few good people who you love to be around, that motivate you, and that can teach you things. Find a purpose that puts a smile on your face and motivates you to be better. Your dark parts will always be there, but the bright parts will make it difficult to see them.
