[WLC Q. 32.](https://opc.org/lc.html) How is the grace of God manifested in the second covenant [i.e., the 'Covenant of Grace']?
A. The grace of God is manifested in the second covenant, in that he freely provideth and offereth to sinners a mediator, and life and salvation by him; and requiring faith as the condition to interest them in him, promiseth and giveth his Holy Spirit to all his elect, to work in them that faith, with all other saving graces; and to enable them unto all holy obedience, as the evidence of the truth of their faith and thankfulness to God, and as the way which he hath appointed them to salvation.
Which is to say: he not only _allows_ a substitute, he also _provides_ one; he not only _offers_ eternal life but he _promises_ it; not only does he require _only faith_ to receive it, he also _grants the very faith which he requires_.
Astounding grace! For those who were once enemies, aliens and strangers to the promises of God, children of wrath by nature, blind to the kingdom of God, and dead in their sins and trespassess--this unending avalanche of blessing and favor is poured out upon us! This--THIS--is the world we were born into, when it could have been otherwise--THIS is the good and gracious God-who-Is!
And that ancient Serpent, with all his usefully idiotic slaves, dare to call this a 'religion of hate'? Truly, "he was a liar and murder from the beginning." John 8:44.
