In 1692, during the Austro-Hungarian Empire's expansion, Romanian Orthodox priests faced pressure to convert to Catholicism. Theodosie, a priest from Brazi, Wallachia, refused, defending his Orthodox faith against the Catholic authorities. He was arrested, tortured, and ultimately beheaded for his unwavering stance. His martyrdom strengthened the resolve of the Orthodox community in the region.
