The word "inflation" comes from the Latin term *inflatio*, which means "swelling" or "puffing up." Originally, it was a medical term, and in economics, it was first used during the American Civil War to describe the devaluation of paper money. Later, its meaning expanded to include the sustained rise in the general price level.
Now they say that inflation is price increases. And they mix it up like this so you forget about the causes. It’s some kind of magic. 🤣
Price increases happen because of inflation.
My favorite is still "demand-pull inflation." That’s the biggest bullshit!
If there’s a shortage, it causes price increases, but that’s just a natural part of how the market works.
