#asknostr Ok, I don't have a laptop, or a PC for that matter, but I'd like to buy one.
For those who don't know me, I have next to zero skills regarding the topic. I'm old, and an immigrant blue-collar in the construction sector, so you should have an idea already.
That being said, my understanding is that a Lenovo ThinkPad is the gold standard if you're a poor or cheap bastard who also wants Linux. I have the following options, and here I need your opinion, regarding these second-hand "gems". I'll go the copy/paste route to avoid any mistakes on my side.
Lenovo Thinkpad Edge Notebook i3 380 for €59,99. "Lenovo ThinkPad Edge notebook with charger. Sold without warranty due to age. --- i3 380 --- 6GB RAM --- 160GB HDD"
This one is in my budget.
The second Lenovo isn't from the ThinkPad family, but I put it here because €79,99 is still tolerable, so here it is. Lenovo Laptop, AMD A4 9125 2.30GHz -- 8GB RAM -- 512GB SSD -- Windows 10.
The last option is the Lenovo Thinkpad E580 Notebook i3 8130U: 2 cores / 4 threads 2.20GH (3.40GHz Turbo) -- 16GB RAM -- 250GB SSD -- 500GB HDD -- Windows 11, freshly reset and updates installed. This one is way out of my budget at €199,99 so it serves more of a comparison point.
They also have a QWERTZ configuration, which, for me will be a fresh hell, but beggars can't be choosers.
So, does it make any sense to buy the first one, or even the second?
