> Wi-fi randomly stops working (but only on my main PC)
> Tried tracert to double check that it wasn't an issue with the ISP (it wasn't)
> Reboots, nothing changes
> Assumed the issue was the USB wi-fi adapter I was using
> Looks in Event Viewer to check for anything strange
> Doesn't find anything, swaps out for a different adapter
> Different adapter gets half speeds for no apparent reason
> Tries installing the newest drivers, no change
> Looks online for suggestions, literally no help from the vendor on previous support threads
> Throws the old adapter back in
> Works out of the blue, gets full speeds
> Double-checks Event Viewer to see if any new logs were created (nothing new)
What just happened? 🙃
I wish I could run some Cat5 cables to where I'm situated but the downside to living with family is that you're not exactly allowed to drill inconspicuous holes to get an ethernet connection where none currently exist.
