You should only have 2-3 outbox relays, 2-3 public inbox relays, 1-2 DM inbox relays, and 1 private relay, and maybe a local relay like Citrine on your phone. They don't all have to be the same relays. Some relays are better for each purpose.
Haven is a great relay for filling all of these purposes. It gives you an outbox relay, a public inbox relay, a DM inbox relay, and a private relay all in one, and also a Blossom server on top of that.
Then you just have to find a few relays that will give you the redundancy you need in case your Haven relay is down.
For outbox, you want to find relays that anyone can read from, but they may restrict who can write to them, such as web-of-trust relays. I use nostr.wine, relay.nostrplebs.com since that is also who provides my Nostr address, and my Haven relay.
For public inbox relays, you want to find relays that anyone you want to be able to reply to your posts or tag you can write to. I have a web-of-trust relay, my Haven relay, and a single public relay here. If I start getting reply spam, I just have to remove that public relay and I am good to go.
For DM relays, you want relays that others can write to, but only you can read from. Personally, I use my own Haven relay and inbox.nostr.wine.
You will be well served with just one private relay provided by your Haven relay, but if you want an additional private relay, you can always set one up easily with relay.tools.
#Amethyst will also let you choose a few other relay types. For search relays, just use the defaults. For local relays, this is where you will paste in your Citrine relay's IP and port.
Finally you have general relays, which are other relays you can read or write from that you are NOT declaring on your kind 10002 as either outbox or inbox relays. You'll notice that you have a lot more options for toggling what feeds those relays are used with. For instance, you may want to have some popular public relays set up to write to them, but not read from them, so that when you update your profile information, etc, it will get sent to those relays, but when you go to your global feed, you still won't see all the spam that lives on them.
