There's plenty of research. Accessing it is the problem. It's inefficient and demoralizing. I've spent a considerable amount of my undergraduate research time just trying to access the fucking research. That means digging around and looking for a path to the paper or study I need. Sometimes, I couldn't get it because of access restrictions, which doesn't feel like good science. Demanding $30 from students for a PDF containing a scanned paper published 50+ years ago (real example) seems utterly ridiculous.
I understand research needs funding, but whatever it is we're doing in the academic space is asinine.
To be clear, I don't support theft as a solution. I think Nostr could give researchers a voluntary means of sharing research. #Zaps would be a cool potential funding source.
