OMG, it is possible that I have solved my year long issues with the mount not wanting to guide. My mount has an RJ11 "telephone" cable between the pilot and the head, and today it dawned on me that I can just test it with my cable tester that I got a two months ago.
And yes, sometimes one of the six strands is failing, and probably when the temps are freezing, the connection is even worse.
I made a new cable, now I need to a clear night to confirm if that was the problem.
