The wood stands stark and bare,
A weight I learn to bear.
Not just His agony,
But mine, for all to see.
My children trace its sign,
A mystery divine.
Their small hands reach and find,
The hope for all mankind.
The Icon's gilded plea,
Reminds and sets us free.
From sin's dark, heavy chain,
Through suffering, joy, and pain.
It means surrender deep,
The promises to keep.
It means a Father's grace,
A promised, final place.
And boundless, selfless love,
Sent from the Lord above.
