The only way that reverse time travel (going back in time) would even be a conversation starter is if you could change the state of the universe around you. With that said, since we can only tell time based on our sun, for all we know time may not even be linear outside of our system meaning if we got ourselves out of the galaxy (maybe even places in it) time either may not apply to anything besides in relation to keeping time from back home or timing operations within the scope of the ship or whatever. Basically, I'm saying we can't apply our understanding of time outside of our solar system or we may miss how the universe works. I think we should start applying all new models of time for different sectors of space as it's explored. So, the only way to tell if you went back or forward in "time" would be to test the breakdown (or lack thereof, or reversal ) of cells in your body. So, we need to study atom manipulation to ever even consider taking your body back in time on earth which is just whacky so I don't think time travel is possible beyond the imagination as there's too many obstacles that we can't overcome.
