As opposed to letting the rich have it when they'll just hire private armies to do it for them directly? Or letting the rich poison our water? Or steal it and sell it back to us? Or encourage new mothers to lose their milk production so they become dependent on corporations' products and some infants starve? Or hire death squads? Or renege on insurance when it's time to get life saving treatment? Or refuse to invest in safety measures and just budget around worker deaths?
Fact is that everything you're worried the government will do is just what the rich want them to do. Leaving the money with them just gets you the same result with no chance for oversight.
