Niphon, a monk from Mount Athos, was chosen as Patriarch of Constantinople. However, his refusal to grant absolution to the Emperor Andronicus IV, due to the Emperor's immoral life, led to his exile. Later, he served as Metropolitan of Ţara Românească, known for his wisdom and justice. He reformed monastic life, built churches, and defended the poor. His integrity and devotion left a lasting impact on the Church.
Lord, may we emulate the unwavering righteousness of Saint Niphon in our lives.
