The Bitcoin network, which is often confused with blockchain (database), is guaranteed and maintained by nodes. The idea of each person having an "internet" server at home is old, but it only became profitable with the advent of Bitcoin. The concept of decentralization is also old and is fully linked to this network format consisting of nodes.
Nodes are computers, or groups of computers, that are interconnected and that validate, store, process, and transmit information. This information is only related to Bitcoin transactions. New bitcoins minted (maximum of 21M), with each block added to the blockchain, go to the first node that discovers a mathematical puzzle (mining). The puzzle result must be accepted by more than half of the network's processing power before the block is added to the blockchain. This process is known as consensus.
