cryptography and game theory and computation theory have all been subjects dear to my heart since i was very young...
there is a lot of toxic people out there playing games with this stuff and i guess that is to be expected, since games are actually the centre of the subject above all (just below the mathematics)
but quantum computing is never going to be cheap, and cost is really the centre of what makes it secure - the asymmetry of cost of security versus the cost of breaching the security is the equation that every security system involves... whether it's protecting privacy of communication or preventing spam in every case security is about making the cost of bad behaviour higher than the potential gain from it
