My dad, a car whisperer (he could tell *which* cylinder was misfiring) could see the electronification of car engines coming, and didn't like it one bit. Something you can't touch and tackle with wrenches and screwdrivers should not be, in his view, called an engine. Takes the fun out, he said.
Me, not so gifted, am happy that I haven't needed to change or tune spark plugs (remember that?) -- but I also think that the electronification can go too far.
