first take is that this is jsut a great eample of how everything is connected. IDK if there's anything an individual can really do about it for their farm wholistically though I'm sure there are specific things each individual can do.
Its not something I really worry about because we dry farm and because any water that is irrigated around us is the first use of that water. its not discharge from a farm upstream because there are no farms upstream.
Thats impossible to mitigate if you're downstream of a ton of farms. Water gets filled with more and more crap as it gets closer to the ocean
