If you're inclined to run a lightning node... just run a mint too on top of it.
Your friends & family will hate the LN node over time, but they'll tolerate the ecash (until they learn to love the lightning node!)
Tell them it's "checks they can cash whenever" & don't fuck them over. They'll accept it far easier than any other dollar-alt.
