NoStrudel nostr:npub1ye5ptcxfyyxl5vjvdjar2ua3f0hynkjzpx552mu5snj3qmx5pzjscpknpr is so slow that i have a Google News opened in another tab and whenever i click on anything in NoStrudel i just go and read some news and by the time i browsed maybe 20 articles or so my notification or timeline have loaded
no i am not joking or exaggerating
i mean you could argue that 5 - 10 seconds is not such a long time, but i can browse through a dozen articles on Google News in that time
human response time is about 150 milliseconds. that's how long a page should take to load. not 5-10 seconds.
if there is a technological limitation causing i to be this slow then the wrong technology is being used.
what we need perhaps is some local service on the computer that constantly caches and processes the relevant data from the relays and then the browser merely renders it.
of course i could simply keep the NoStrudel tabs for timeline and notifications always open then i wouldn't have to wait for them to load but i like to keep things clean and always close everything and open again. i don't like having 100 tabs open.
it works for other sites like Google News that load instantly. but it doesn't work for NoStrudel.
that said i still for some reason prefer browsing the web through a browser as opposed to dedicated program like Gossip. why can't we combine the two approaches where we have something like Gossip running in the background caching everything even when i restart the browser and then view it through the browser ?
