You need cash for many places including Family Mart. 7-11 takes foreign credit cards as do almost all department stores where most of the higher end restaurants are.
If you want to use bus and subway you need to get a “Easycard”. You can buy them and add money to the card with cash at 7-11, Famly Mart, and other convenience stores.
Uber eats and Uber for rides works wonderfully and is cheap.
Get a cheap eSIM for fast local data.
