#Introduction Hi, beautiful Fedizens. First I'd like to brag that I used to do brain surgeries on fruit flies, and work as an editor for an international law firm, because those positions made me feel I had a little "status" I think. It felt like I mattered more to me then. But, second, really, I still matter to me a bit, even though I just hang out now in the Fediverse and try to do what activist work I can manage from home, where I hide from the demands of the commercial world as much as possible and depend on my spouse for support. This is my umpteenth account, because at first I didn't migrate when I switched instances. So I was at .social, then union.place, then autonomous.zone, for example. This is my second try on kolektiva, and I have a few accounts on other instances for experimental reasons too.
This morning I whipped up some bio text to share on my website so I will link to that here: https://redthebean.net/about.html But in general, all you need to know about me is that I am still alive, and I want to work with every other person I can to get us out of this autocratic, finance-capitalist nightmare hurtling into total ecological and social disaster. I think I have good ideas about how we will do that, but I struggle to get these thoughts into writing that I'd feel others would want to read. So please wish me luck with that.
In my opinion, Mastodon is one of the few popular FOSS platforms we have for finding each other, and for coordination and communication, so I am really glad we are here, and that you are reading this. Signal is another means. You can reach me there at resl.17. It might seem like we can't maintain a lot of connections or relationships, but I think that we are in connection no matter what, and making it explicit and intentional is a first step to better self-governance and self-organizing. There is not much we need more than our class solidarity and trust in each other's goodwill right now. I think it might be that our revolution and peace come more readily the more we see that we want for each according to their needs and from each according to their abilities. It is a horrific moment, where the world is full of autocrats, deadly weapons, police, and militaries. So for all of us, I hope we can bind together to survive these circumstances and fight with all we've got for a life without them.
