Spent some time trying to work out what material to use to cover the miner compartment...
After some thinking and research, I opted for 2 layers of mass loaded vinyl and some fire retardant plastic sandwiched in-between the vinyl. This gives a nice combo of weight, flexibility and sturdiness. These three layers were glued together and wrapped with metal tape to improve its heat/fire resistance. I then glued on some of that black fabric onto the rectangle cover.
Like the prior posts, the surrounding foam was covered with the black fabric and it is removable in case I need to access the wires underneath.
All of this is in the middle section of unit (where the miner sits).
