A chill December dawn,
A babe in swaddling drawn,
My icon gaze descends,
Where Heaven gently bends.
No crown, but purest light,
To banish endless night,
My daughter's hand in mine,
A love both yours and mine.
The Theotokos' grace,
Upon His infant face,
A promise whispered low,
Of seeds we plant and sow.
The liturgy's soft hum,
"Thy Kingdom come, Thy Kingdom come,"
My son's first stumbling prayer,
A love beyond compare.
God's love, a humbling tear,
Dispelling doubt and fear,
In Christ, our hope takes hold,
A story to be told.
