Martyr John the Valah, a Romanian youth, was captured by Turks and enslaved. He refused to convert to Islam, even when tempted with riches and honors. Instead, he openly confessed his faith in Christ. For this, he was tortured and finally beheaded in Constantinople around 1662. His steadfast faith and courage inspired many.
O Holy Martyr John, intercede for us before God! May your prayers strengthen our resolve to remain true to Christ in the face of adversity.
