yeah, runes were not the only form of inscription though, but letter forms were heavily influenced by the means of writing them
brushes and quills led to more rounded, fluid forms such as cursive, but even still for signage the scratched (scribed) forms are more suitable
the modern, gothic/germanic scheme of capitalization in substitute for an explicit article is an example... that's why it's God not al lah like in the arabic, and He, etc... but in the original texts the modern use of mixed case was mainly about eliminating the already colloquial unstated articles or nouns... it's complicated, but you know what i mean
it's interesting, anyway, just thinking about how the byzantine alpha and omega were literally the same form rotated, not all of the greek script forms were this way
also, it was long before any of the scrolls that have been dug up or were kept in libraries when humans only wrote stuff on hard media
the mesopotamians, for example, made those clay tablets for ... pretty sure... tax purposes, and it was very durable for documentation, doesn't go moldy, doesn't easily fall apart and isn't easily falsified
but taxation is theft, just gonna say that anyway :) caesar owns nothing, the dirty pig
