Our minds are incredible.
The first 6 months selling my beloved home within walking distance to glorious beaches,
my man and I were really struggling against the voices in our head.
It was REALLY hard for us to let go of the conditioning belief that to be a ‘success’ and providers for our child, we had to own the property we lived in.
And to let go of all we loved about our house- our memories, our hood, all the things. 😞 We bought it sight unseen because we loved the area, and preferred it being as run down as possible so that we could pay less for it. We renovated it on a tiny budget and the majority of the improvements were design elements like paint, sanding the floors with a lime wash and then just using soft furnishings.
For 20 years we bought the cheapest run down properties we cld afford, gave them love while we lived in them, then sold them and did it again. We didn’t want to be slaves to work so we would buy homes that were too tiny to socialise in and we were too embarrassed to anyway. I’m talking tiny 1.5 bedroom fishermen fibro shacks - while the rest of australia was living in huge houses with all the modern amenities. We both wanted more, but didn’t want to be stuck in jobs that wanted a lot from us, and we were motivated by travel, adventure and fun. So we did the best we cld.
Then we were introduced to the Global Free Market. And after letting go of all we knew, we had to push through, feel all the feelings and the fear, and just keep going.
Sell up. Slow travel.
I was really battling inner anxiety those first 3 months.
But what I know for sure, is that if we stay the course, the uncertainty and sense of loss we face when making bold moves, burns off.
Leaving us free to embrace something new.
Something progressive.
Now fast forward to today and we can’t stop thinking how grateful we are to be in the position we’re in.
We feel and are free!
Our minds will fight against our courage - until it doesn’t. It takes some time. You’ve got to back yourself in the process.
It wld have taken 25 years to pay off our mortgage with both of us working full time and we’re not spring chickens.
We knew there was a better way.
We still may buy land again, who knows. I miss nesting and being able to foster as many rescue animals as I choose. As we’re renting, I’m limited in that respect. But it’s enough right now to be where we are, and enjoy it!
Knowing that we are part of this growing Global Free Market and ahead of the curve is a blessing beyond words. 🙏
We are all on our own unique journeys and it feels good to have a place to share mine with similar minded folk.
I appreciate you!
Pics are of our last home, it’s amazing what elbow grease, paint and new cabinets and counters can do!
