I think using #chromium based browsers empowers google, since every user of their codebase is an opportunity to collect issues, user feedback to improve their browser.
But the same counts for Firefox and its derivatives. Every user of Firefox or any Fork of it, strengthens the stability. As more people use it as faster, issues are found and potentially fixed as well.
Therefor I choose to use #Firefox based browsers all the time.
And who knows: When value for value philosphy grows, maby one day Firefox can also be driven by donations, to quit its dependencies from advertisers.
