IMHO bitcoin's politics are naturally at least somewhat libertarian. But in this last US election cycle many libertarians shifted towards Trump, and I think bitcoiners got "pushed along" by this tide.
This can probably be seen as part of a broader reaction to aggressive regulatory actions by the Biden administration, which extended not only to crypto but many other areas of Tech. This is why people like Marc Andreessen were in the tank for Trump.
But I think this was a mistake. Marc Adreessen can't avoid politics; he exists in a world of centralized corporate structures. Bitcoin, in contrast, doesn't *need* political favor to succeed. And as we're all seeing now, Trump is a quixotic ally at best, and a maelstrom of economic destruction at worst.
