The Ordeal of Anatoly Kuznetsov " is an hour CBS-TV interview with the writer who recently defected from Russia: A chilling, powerful interview. There is a sense of tragedy present in Kuznetsov himself. The 40-ish interviewed Soviet author, in London, spoke softly, somberly, attractively in his manner of delivery. Yet the words were obviously torturous to him. In every answer, he seemed to be questioning himself and his conscience to the depths of his soul. He was merciless in his appraisal of Russia. He would not talk to Soviet officials because ;"I am afraid of them." The final spark that made him decide to defect, he said, was when Soviet troops moved into Czechoslovakia. He described Russia as a concentration camp. The Soviet Union, he said, is the real aggressor in the modern world.
