Highball or Lowball sales technique
What it is:
Start with an offer that’s ridiculously high or low. This shocks the other party and may cause them to question or revise their opening position. But be careful — this tactic can backfire.
Example:
You’re selling a used car that’s worth $10,000. You open at $14,000. The buyer might push back hard — but they’re now anchored to a higher price and may offer $11,000 instead of starting at $8,000. You’ve pulled them toward your end of the range.
