The big jihad gets conflated with the small jihad all the time. The Orient is like a mirror of Europe. The crusades of the roman catholic church are a prime example of this. A small jihad to sanctify the world so to speak. However, Christ never did this and you won't find this in the new testament (which is the "next level" after the old testament). The apostles didn't evangelise with the sword, instead they got killed for their belief in Christ. In this regard, the Muslim world continued the old testament and the western world began to misinterpret the Bible.
We now have nuclear bombs, conventional bombs, automatic rifles. We cannot continue to live by the old testament - by spreading our ontological world view (= religion), which benefits us, by force. Christ is meant to be the capstone above all religions.
