There is a caveat to this theory though, where the Pilot did hijack the plane in a political protest regarding Anwar (the prime minister, who was politically arrested the day before). Captain Shah is well connected and the most experienced pilot at the state airline and swong some influence.
Rumour has it that he took control of the plane, flew it around whilst communicating with the government who then either shot him down or he flew it out of sight to create political tension. But this theory falls apart faster than the previous one, given the amount of evidence that supports it vs. any other theory out there.
